« TBILISI » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « 12-Star City »
The Tbilisi City Hall is actively engaged in the Local Democracy Week, an annual initiative of the Council of Europe. For the first time, the City registered for the Week in 2010 dedicated to Climate Change and Sustainable Development. In recognition of the compliance of the ELDW criteria, the City of Tbilisi acquired the status of ‘12 Star‘.
Under this year's theme ‘Living together in multicultural societies: respect, dialogue, interaction’, the city of Tbilisi organised a concert with participation of ethnic minority dancing groupes in the frame of the annual city festival Tbilisoba, which traditionally takes place in October. The open air concert was held in the old historical part of the city and 2 Ukrainian, 2 Armenian, 2 Azerbaijani and Russian local ensembles performed their national dances for the audience. Apart from the concert, art works of Azerbaijani, Armenian, Ukrainian, Chechen and Kurd artists were exhibited.
