Conference: Family Financial Transfers and Sustainable Local Co-Development

The aim of this conference was to take stock of the positive impact that Family Financial Transfers can have on sustainable local co-development in countries of origin when they are well managed. Studies show that financial and social transfers play an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), but that much remains to be done to fully exploit the development potential of these remittances. Migrants and their associations, governments, civil society and the private sector are key players in this process. During this conference/workshop, they worked together on the development of solutions for proposing concrete recommendations to migrant associations, local authorities and co-operation international organizations to make these collective solidarity movements more effective and efficient.
