Webinar and online meeting with deputy mayor of Paraqar community for the youth of Gegharkunik marz

On May 23-24 a webinar was held for the local youth of Gegharkunik marz (region) of Armenia in the framework of the project “V4 for Youth Engagement in the Local Self-Governance” implemented by the “Free Citizen” Civic Initiatives Support Center in the cooperation with the Union of Communities of Armenia.
The workshop was dedicated to strengthening young civic activists on engagement with local self-governance, as well as raising awareness among participants on the European Union, Council of Europe, Eastern Partnership, Visegrad 4 format.
28 young civic activists from Gegharkunik marz participated in the webinar. Besides, an online meeting with the deputy mayor of Paraqar municipality Gor Saribekyan was held. He told the participants about his motivation to be involved in the local self-government system, about his pre-electoral campaign and development projects of the community. He also answered the questions raised by the participants.
During the webinar, the issues, which had been identified by the participants as more relevant for the Youth of their region were also discussed.
- Community unification problems;
- Low awareness and low involvement of the youth in community life and local self-government system,
-Low development of community infrastructure
