French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE)

« French Association of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (AFCCRE) » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner association »

AFCCRE is a national association, created in 1951 under the initiative of a number of local representatives. Based on the town twinning movement in Europe after World War II, AFCCRE has gradually diversified its activities to cover European policies that are of direct or indirect interest for French territorial communities. Today, AFCCRE comprises nearly 1500 local authorities, municipalities, counties, regions and groupings of municipalities.
