« AMADORA » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »

Aim:

To involve citizens in public life and bring them closer to the local authorities

 

In Lisbon Metropolitan area, the City of Amadora is an intercultural  community, with a wide diversity of population.  Amadora considers the cultural diversity as an added value for the city. Different cultures contribute to the enrichment of the city by their interaction and the variety of social and cultural backgrounds; however, the integration of the various groups remains a major challenge.

Thus, Amadora City Council has developed different strategies to give citizens the opportunity to interact and participate in city life, through participatory processes, so as to promote social cohesion.
