ORTAHISAR MUNICIPALITY

Ortahisar is the biggest town of Trabzon with its population, 306.286. After the local elections on 30.04.2014, our municipality has started to serve. Lawyer Ahmet Metin GENÇ, our mayor, has initially adopted participatory democracy while defining the vision and mission of municipality. He also contribute to the development of democracy and transparent governance idea as all sessions of municipality council works are open to public and press. Moreover, a 3-day workshop for the identification and solving of  construction zoning issue of Ortahisar town was held with the participation of non-governmental organizations with the slogan of “We are solving together”. All problems and solutions to provide a better environment for our town was disscussed during the workshop. Our mayor has been interested in the problems of public directly and listen them by arranging “Public day” on Thursday from 13:00-17:00 every week. Also, he provide an opportunity for children to express themselves whom are the guarantee of our future thanks to the Project “Ortahisar of Children”. Many Works will be achieved like traditional children plays, Projects prepared by children, science festival and so on as well as Ortahisar children theatre following the establishment of Children Council of Ortahisar. Youth Council and Woman Council have also contributed to maket he all part of society heard. Free lessons for high school, university preparation, kpss preparation (public personnel selection examination) and vocational courses have been provided for public equally. Moreover, the participants who attend these courses were informed about social gender inequality. Ortahisar municipality which meets public directly, find solutions with non-governmental organizations, provide solution offers for children, young and women to Express thmeselves will continue its works to improve and settle democracy culture in our town.
