Ukrainian Platform of Intercultural Cities

« Ukrainian Platform of Intercultural Cities » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner association »

Our network contributes to the success of the ELDW because

it gets people closer to their democratic institutions

it boosts the values of local democracy throughout Europe

our association contributes to the efforts of the Council of Europe and the Congress to enhance the European values of democracy and human rights.

 

In March 2011, several representatives from Ukrainian cities met in Kyiv and signed the Memorandum on the Ukrainian Platform of Intercultural Cities. It was subscribed by the cities of Melitopol, Pryluky, Khmelnytsky, Yuzhne, Zhytomyr, Lutsk, Nizhyn, Kherson. Three other Ukrainian cities, Pavlograd, Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia, agreed to join the national network afterwords. The participating cities set up a task force and developed an action plan.

The network develops exchanges with other European networks. It will use the intercultural dimension as a development tool. The main principles of their local policies are openess, participatory democracy, positive diversity [......]
