« CANDELARIA - Tenerife » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
Candelaria's roots lie in the Atlantic, the sea which saw the birth of the Virgin Mary, who came to be known in time as La Candelaria, today the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands. Candelaria is located in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and has an area of ??49 km2. Candelaria has a population of 27.250 inhabitants according to the municipal census in November 2012. The population density of 476 inhabitants per km2.
