Kad?köy Theater Festival

To strengthen local democracy and increase citizen participation, Kad?köy Municipality promotes continually theatre within the district. For this end, the Municipality has been collaborating with Kad?köy Theatre Platform since 2016. Kad?köy Theater Platform was established in 2016 and aims to contribute to the development of strong arts&culture policy in Kad?köy as well as to find solutions collectively for the problems of theatre and to engage more people within the society. The collaboration between the platform and the Municipality has been the first in Turkey and both parties aim the proliferation of this kind of collective practices within the country. Through promoting and supporting theatre and expanding new stages and with the engagement of young and dynamic groups, the increase in the number of theatre audience will improve the effectiveness of the objective of the platform. To reach this objective, Kad?köy Theatre Festival has a special position among various projects. In 2018, Kad?köy Municipality in collaboration Kad?köy Theater Platform has been organizing 3rd Kad?köy Theatre Festival by which the main theme of European Local Democracy Week as “Citizen participation, consultation and commitment: for a thriving local democracy –youth and children engagement–” has been highlighted via organization of 2 specific ateliers for children and young people.
