City of Fastiv

Fastiv - a city regionally known and  a regional center- is located on the heights of PreDnipro  over river Unava (Irpin’s branch).  The first time Fastiv's name was mentioned  was in a 1390’s chronicle. Nevertheless,  there is  an even older chronicle stating that Fastiv was named back at the time when Oleg and Igor governed the Kievan Rus'.

Fastiv has a  well-developed transportation network.  Numerous   roads and railway lines go all through the strategic points of the city.

The base of city’s industrial potential is formed  by chemical and electrothermal factories, refineries, factories that produce gas equipment, furniture, different kinds of oils and greases, clothing, beer, flour and other kind of bakery.

In the city there is a total of seven middle schools, highschools, night school, eleven pre-school facilities, three educational complexes , extracurricular facilities: a recently-opened naturalist station, centres of extracurricular job, school of folk crafts, two sport schools for teenagers and music school for kids.

The municipal culture palace gathers different types of club formations and amateur performance art clubs, nine of which,  have reached the prestigious rank of amateur «national» and «exemplary». Fastiv also has a sport complex, encouraging citizens (kids and adults) to participate in different kinds of sport activities.

The city Catholic cathedral "Saint Nicholay’s church", an ancient wooden church (1779-1781), is currently under construction.

Besides Ukrainians,  Fastiv is populated with Russian and Polish people.

On June 11th 2015, an agreement between Valch district and Fastivon on partnership and cooperation, was signed.
