City Council of Adolescents

On the 30rd of November, 27 teenager students from the high schools of the Municipality of Farkadona will take their place as City’s Teen Councilors, in the virtual rolls of Administration, Opposition and Civil Society. For the 3rd year, is going to be held the annual meeting of the City Council of Adolescents, in the framework of the European Local Democracy Week activities. The meeting of the City Council of Adolescents, will be held in a public celebratory event, which will be attended by the Mayor of Farkadona, the Deputy Mayor for Education, Councilors, parents, teachers, citizens. The discussion will be headed by the chairman of the City Council of Farkadona. The topic of discussion in which teenagers consultants will be invited to discuss this year will be the “children and youth participation and commitment”. This is an introduction to the bottom-up procedures which have to be the main tool in the local development policy and strategic planning. Specifically, the pupil’s council will give them the opportunity to enhance democratic consciousness through creative discussion. Additionally, through this process, adolescents will discuss about their decisions that influence their lives both at individual and collective level. Furthermore, the meeting is a first class opportunity to attract adults’ attention. In conclusion, we hope that the teenager consultants will expand their horizons in order to making right decisions with greater participation in local community. The order in which the Council's subjects will be discussed is: 1st Subject Improvement of Conditions in my Municipality (Local community transport links, Cleanliness, Electricity, Strand, Recycling, Renewable Energy) 2nd Subject Students - Schools – Daily Routine (Students Transportation Problems, Lack of logistical infrastructure, Buildings, School bullying, Educational system-Exams) 3rd Subject Social issues (Volunteerism, Refugees-Immigrants, Racism, People with Special Needs, Unemployment, Human Relations-Human Rights. 4th Subject Cultural and Cultural Interventions (Tourism, Cycling, Sports, Sightseeing, Culture and Cultural Activities, Sports). 5th Subject I make suggestions about the place I live in (I participate in the community, My reason for today, My vision for tomorrow, I'm talking about what I can do, I'm talking about individual and collective responsibility). *Update The 3rd Municipal Council of Teenagers of the Municipality of Farkadona was held on Friday, November 30, 2018. 27 pupils teenage councilors from the Farkadona Municipality Schools of Education took their place in the city council offices. For the third consecutive year, they held the annual meeting of the Municipal Adolescents’ Council, which took place within the framework of the activities of the European Local Democracy Week, which began in 2007 and celebrates its ten years this year, while it is dedicated to the Participatory Republic, having as its central message: "I share, I propose, I decide". The topics discussed were timely, varied and important, and the adolescent counselors' recommendations were so comprehensive that they reminded of experienced local government officials. Adolescent counselors dared to touch on sensitive issues such as the daily life of the municipality, recycling, energy upgrading, the environment, racism, immigrant refugees, people with disabilities, school bullying, the education system and exams, sport, tourism with remarkable approaches. In conclusion, after a constructive dialogue, they agreed that the school should not be confined to the binding limits of broadcasting sterile knowledge, but that it should cultivate a climate of dialogue and free expression, and that it should be based on the principles of justice and equality.
