We Program Our Road Map for the Next Five Years Together with Our Stakeholders

Be?ikta?
From 17/06/2019 to 21/10/2019
We Program Our Road Map for the Next Five Years Together with Our Stakeholders In today’s world where technology and global trends gain momentum, it has become more of an issue in terms of the efficiency and productivity of services to enable that management is carried out by units closest to the public and the public is included into management processes. As the Be?ikta? Municipality, we continue our works for the “Strategic Planning for 2020-2024” with an understanding of participation. In this context, in addition to our in-house educations and studies, we carried out the “Strategic Plan Workshop for 2020-2024” between July 5-19, 2019, also with the purpose of taking the opinions and suggestions of our external stakeholders. During the workshop, many issues related to Be?ikta? were discussed interactively. Thanks to this workshop, while preparing the road map of Be?ikta? for the next five years, we have had the chance to experience the awareness shown by the public at participating in management activities. In addition to our staff members, who are the internal stakeholders of our Municipality, the workshop was attended by a total of 124 representatives from the universities, trade associations, active NGOs in our district, other external stakeholders and institutions including the UNDP, IKSV, Zorlu PSM, Habitat, TEMA, SPoD, ÇYDD Be?ikta? and ImpactHub. The first day of the workshop started with presentations and went on with the trade associations’ evaluation of the opportunities and threats regarding our district. The institutions contributing to our Strategic Plan expressed their concerns about issues such as disaster and risk management, waste water management, etc. On the second day of the workshop, the cultural activities of our city were discussed. After discussing and evaluating the activities of the Be?ikta? Municipality within the last ten years; opinions were exchanged regarding what to do and what not to do in the upcoming period. The experts in the field and NGOs proposed various suggestions for the purpose of bringing together our citizens with high art and making use of idle and unutilized public spaces as stages and exhibition areas. As a result of the meetings and discussions performed in an active and democratic way, the vision of making Be?ikta? a center for culture and arts was further strengthened. On the last day of the workshop, matters regarding the children, women, elderly people and the disabled residents living in our district were discussed. The experts expressed their ideas and informed our Municipality about what kind of steps to take in this regard. The most urgent and important outcomes were determined and evaluated. The matters and required steps to be taken by our Municipality were sorted and put in an order according to their level of urgency and importance in consideration of the feedbacks from all the participants. Believing that citizens’ participation in transparent and democratic decision making processes will strengthen the mutual trust and responsibility between elected representatives and people, the Be?ikta? Municipality is dedicated to repeat this kind of events and workshops periodically throughout the year.
