Edremit Municipality City Council
From 15/10/2019 to 15/10/2020
In the frame of the European Local Democracy Week 2020 edition, Edremit Municipality enhanced the theme of the year “Local democracy: building trust” in order to organise a flagship event related to the youth policies of our local authority. The support of a local authority in shaping a future of opportunities is crucial. In this frame building a sense of reliability and trust is very important in order to open new channels of communications and new paths of personal development for the youngsters of our community. On 15 October 2020 we decided to dedicate the Flagship event of the European Local Democracy Week to the young citizens of our community and to the youth policies of our municipality. Considering that the Covid 19 pandemic had a massive impact especially on the youngsters and that the restrictive measures, the absence of social interaction and the lack of school's support strained their psychology, we organised a meeting with the Principles of several Vocational High Schools of our region in order to enhance together alternative opportunities of learning and self-development offered by the European Commission in the frame of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps.
Considering that the Covid 19 pandemic had a massive impact especially on the youngsters and that the restrictive measures, the absence of social interaction and the lack of school's support strained their psychology and mind, we organised a meeting with the Principals of several Vocational High Schools of our region in order to enhance together alternative opportunities of learning and self-development offered to the youngsters by the European Commission in the frame of Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps. The meeting, organised according to the strict measures of social distance, gave to us the opportunity to put together several educative institutions of our region which had never got in touch before and discuss together about the wide range of project consortium occasions and different youth mobility opportunities offered by KA1 and KA2 applications. Edremit Municipality as the only EuroDesk contact point of the region has a special task in this frame and a deep responsibility to support our young citizens in this difficult contingency. Moreover, as local authority is crucial to collaborate together with the other educational institutions of our region in order to provide support to our young citizens strengthening the hope to keep their dreams alive ensuring them that their projects are still a priority for us. The Vocational High Schools that participated to the meeting have been instructed regarding the Eu login account, the OID (Organisation Identity) and the task of the EuroDesk points in the frame of project partnership opportunities and youth mobility. Together with the several principals of the vocational high schools who participated to the meeting we decided to organise a series of further meetings in order to strengthen the collaboration of different local institutions in the frame of Erasmus+ projects.
