« Edremit » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
Streetball tournament

18 teams, coming from 14 secondary schools of Edremit, took part in a four days tournament of Streetball. It has been the first time that the youth of Edremit had been directly involved in a popular basketball event. The tournament, which has encountered the full support of the local Governor and the District Directorate of National Education, was conducted in an enthusiastic atmosphere of fair play and friendship, together with the generous and passionate collaboration of the involved secondary schools basketball coaches. The intention of the municipality is to repeat it every year increasing the participation of students from other cities and if possible even from our European twin cities.
The European Local Democracy Week has been the appropriate occasion to show to our younger citizens how much the Edremit Municipality cares about their last frequent calls for new and involving activities, organizing for them a sportive event of street-ball. 18 teams of students under 17 years, coming from 14 High Schools of Edremit, took part to a 4 days tournament of Street Ball. This has been the first time that the young population of Edremit had been directly involved in a so beloved and popularbasketball event organized by the Municipality. The tournament, which has encountered the full support of the local Governor and the District Directorate of National Education, was conducted in an enthusiastic atmosphere of fair play and friendship, together with the generous and passionate collaboration of the involved high school basketball coaches. The intention of the municipality is to repeat it every year increasing the participation of students from other cities and if possible even from our European twin cities. This sportive event was aimed to promote the value of communication between citizens and local authorities in order to enhance the social cohesion in the young community of Edremit drawing it closest to the municipality institution and to the Mayor.
