Opening Concert of ELDW by the band “TatavlaKeyfi”

The opening concert was performed by the music group "Tatavla Keyfi", which is famous for its repertoire of “Rebetiko” songs, a genre of Greek music born in Piraeus harbour which merged with Turkish traditional music. For this reason “Rembetiko” songs represent a significant cultural heritage of shared traditions between two cultures and it represents a pleasant occasion of communal entertainment beyond cultural differences and language barriers.
The concert has been preceded by the video message of Gudrun Mosler Törnström, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. Deputy Mayor of Lesvos, Taksiarhis Veros, and Deputy Mayor of Chania ,Eleftheria Alifieraki, underlined the meaning and importance of the Turkish-Greek friendship in their speeches.

Furthermore Deputy Mayor of Lesvos Mr.Taksiarhis Veros and Deputy Mayor of Chania Ms.Eleftheria Alifieraki both underlined the meaning and importance of the Turkish-Greek friendshipin their speeches. Deputy Mayor of Chania, Ms. Alifieraki also reminded that the City of Chania celebrates the ELDW since 2011.
