Edremit Municipality City Council

The Mayor of Edremit will receive the students of an Elementary school of Edremit in his room and he will explain to them them how a municipality works and the main duties of a Mayor. After that the students will move on to the City Council of our Municipality for a democratic vote organised and managed by the children.
During the European Local Democracy Week 2019, Edremit Municipality organised once again a voting activity which is becoming a traditional appointment for our young community. Two class of two Elementary Schools of Edremit participated to the democratic voting about the next activity of the administration regarding the children of our city. Children have been asked to choice about three alternatives: a new playground, a new sports field and a new Wi-Fi point for free internet connection. Under the guide of our Protocol Office Director, children have chosen the president and the secretary of the assembly among them. The elected president of the assembly managed the children council explaining the three alternatives and the modality of vote. After a secret voting the president and the secretary collected the ballot papers for the scrutiny. The new playground area received the highest number of votes. At the end of the ballot the Director of Protocol Office assured to the children that our administration will realize the playground as soon as possible inviting them to the opening ceremony. The meaning of this activity is to show to our young citizens that voting is an activity which always implies a change in their environment and through the ballot they can do something of concrete for their community.
