« Neuchatel » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
Neuchâtel is a Swiss town on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, on the southern flank of the Jura, it faces the Alps.
The economy of the city has long been associated with the administration (the most important city of the region) and agriculture (vines). It was dominated by international trade in the eighteenth century, followed by the secondary (watch) and tertiary. Later, tourism has accompanied the development of the railway.
