Local Democracy activity with Year 8 students

Visit to a local secondary school to engage with year 8 students on current issues. The students were introduced to two of their local councillors who explained their roles and what the council did. The students also had the opportunity to ask questions of their councillors and raise issues. There was a group activity based on 100 years of changes in the area, linked to the centenary of the end of WW1. The students also debated current issues and learnt about how to form arguments, put across their points and listen to others.
