Presentation of possibilities for citizens to participate in decision making proces on the local level

The City of Krusevac participated in organization of European Local Democracy Week, coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The topic of this public discussion, held on November 20, 2019 in premises of Krusevac City Hall, was the “Presentation of possibilities for citizens to participate in decision making process on the local level”. The goal of this public discussion was to acquaint the citizens with ways they can participate in decision making process with local parliament, since the decisions they regularly adopt are the ones that are implemented in the local community itself. President of the City Assembly, Mr. Zivojin Miloradovic, opened the discussion, as he was responsible for the presentation “Citizens’ participation in decision making process, strategies, and other legal acts adopted by the City Assembly of Krusevac”. Deputy Mayor, Ms. Vesna Lazarevic, spoke of the Citizens’ Guide through the Budget Decision, while Ms. Maja Cuckic, General Secretary of the City Assembly, held the presentation on programs for citizens financed by the local self-government. Ms. Jasmina Palurovic, the mayor of Krusevac, closed the public discussion by talking about the transparency and availability of all legal acts of the City of Krusevac in more details, which are relevant for citizens, as well as about mechanisms of their participations in adopting important political decisions – present and newly established ones. The goal is to have an overall view of the public interest and its implementation in to political decisions, in order to fully respect the will of the citizens and their proactive participation. After the participants of the discussion and local self-government authorities held their presentations, all the visitors had the opportunity to ask questions, give advices, suggestions, and comments, making this political process of the best quality and having the highest democratic values. All interested citizens, representatives of local communities and Students’ Parliament, as well as representatives of local media participated in the public discussion.
