Avc?lar joins Historical Cities Association

Avcilar is home to a thousand-year-old city which, like Bathonea, illuminates the history of humanity. It became a member of the Union of Historic Towns with the decision taken at the last session of the Municipal Assembly. Following the proposal submitted by the Mayor of Avc?lar Turan Hançerli to the Municipal Assembly, Avc?lar Municipality Assembly unanimously accepted the membership of the Historical Cities Association. There are close to 500 cities that are members of the Association of Historic Cities, which was established in 2000 to develop local policies to protect the natural and cultural structure of cities. The conditions for joining the Union include the importance of preserving historical and natural environment in local government policies; In this regard, the city culture, civil society participation and efforts to develop social sensitivity, the city's UNESCO World Heritage List of cultural values, including the development of relations with historical cities abroad.
