I can be me – an art competition on Instagram for students in primary schools

In primary schools in Huddinge
From 09/09/2019 to 29/09/2019
This year's Instagram competition is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which establishes the equal value of all children, children 's freedom of expression and the right to express themselves and the right to be taken seriously. All people have the right to be themselves, like what they like, be with who they want and express themselves the way they want. Many young people can feel a pressure to fit in, not to stand out too much, but to adapt to current norms and expectations from different directions. In the Instagram competition # jagfårvarajag (#Icanbeme) pupils get the opportunity to challenge themselves, to be different, be themselves and think about - and express - that they do not have to fit in all the time. The theme also gives the teachers the opportunity to address topics such as children's rights, bullying, norms, equality, freedom of expression and the CRC. 2020, the Convention will also become Swedish law. Organizer: Huddinge council of democracy. The event was a part of Huddinge Democracy Days 2019.
