The European Local Democracy Week (ELDW) is a pan-European event which aims at boosting local democract and citizen participation. This initiative is co-ordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. This pan-European event takes place every year during the week of the 15 October.

The 2017 Week of Local Democracy will take place between 9 and 15 October. However, should this coincide with other events or local elections, local authorities may choose to organise the ELDW on more convenient dates around October where possible. The main theme of the 2017 edition is “Citizen participation, consultation and commitment: for a thriving local democracy”.

Local and regional authorities and their associations wishing to participate in the 2017 edition of the ELDW are invited to register during the period of March-October.
