Ahmetbey Municipality

The history of Ahmetbey dates back to the Thracians, the years between 600-700 BC. Ahmetbey, which was the host of the Thracian, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine civilizations, was in a state of condition related to the granary of the Lüleburgaz Episcopal Center in the third century AC. From the early 1800s until 1930, the Greek, Bulgarian and Turkish people lived together in the town of Ahmetbey. Ahmetbey has an important position in the center of the Marmara Region, is neighbouring Istanbul and is 120 kilometres away from Bulgaria and Greece, where the borders of the European Union begin. Ahmetbey Municipality adopts common universal values such as democracy, pluralism, the rule of law, human rights and freedoms, equality between women and men, justice and respect for differences. We believe that the idea of “full solidarity” which is expressed by the founders of European idealism can be provided by “Pan-European” approach in all terms and spreading sense of unity in all dimensions of European continent. Democracy, freedom, human rights and respect for human dignity, solidarity, equal opportunities, gender equality and social justice are all our common values and we must protect these values.

Amadora

The city of Amadora is one of the 18 municipalities of Lisbon Metropolitan Area and is among the 10 most populous cities of the country. It spans an area of about 24km2, with a population of 175136 residents (census 2011), wich reflects a high population density. It is a multicultural city where people from different ethnicities, nationalities and religions coexist in a peaceful community. Thus, Amadora City Council has developed different strategies to give its citizens the opportunity to interact and participate in the city life through participatory processes so as to promote social cohesion.

The Association of the City and the Municipalities of the Brussels Capital Region is a non-profit organisation established and managed by the local authorities within the Region and aimed at providing them with services.

Besiktas Municipality

Besiktas is located in the European side of the city of Istanbul, and geographically composed of coastal and interior settlements. Despite its small surface area and population, it is ideally located at the junction of arterial roads of Istanbul, and has a convenient location to world-class amenities. It has the access roads to the Bridges of Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet interconnecting the European and Anatolian sides of Istanbul and even two continents. While the current population is approximately 190.000, it reaches approximately 2 million people in a day.

Büyükçekmece

"More Modern Büyükçekmece, Happier People from Büyükçekmece." Büyükçekmece is well-known on account of its agricultural and tourist potential. It developed rapidly in the 1980s and its population grew day by day. From 1994 onwards great efforts were made in terms of urban planning (sewage network, decontamination facilities, parks, monitoring of the environment, overhead energy and telecommunication networks placed underground, lighting systems etc.). Büyükçekmece has thus become a modern district. Büyükçekmece Municipality has organised dazzling cultural activities and projects in co-operation with the European Union and other institutions.

Bydgoszcz

Bydgoszcz is a city located in the northern part of Poland, on the Brda and Vistula rivers. It is the capital of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship and the 8th-largest city in Poland. Bydgoszcz has a population around 361 thousand people. Bydgoszcz is the seat of Kazimierz Wielki University, UTP University of Sciences and Technology, Collegium Medicum and Academy of Music as well as sixteen other universities and colleges. Bydgoszcz hosts the Pomeranian Philharmonic, the Opera Nova and the Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport.

Chania

Chania is a city in western Crete, Greece, in the department of the same name. This is the second largest city on the island, with about 55,000 inhabitants.

Chemnitz

Chemnitz, the “European City of Culture 2025”, is a town with many faces. It is the third largest city in Saxony with approximately 245 000 inhabitants. Art and culture are integral parts of the city’s history. As an old industrial town, the city was named the „Saxon Manchester“ and in the 20th Century a key international player in mechanical and locomotive engineering. Chemnitz is often not perceived on a national and European level. However, this will change with the nomination as Capital of Culture. It is now all the more important that the people of Chemnitz also participate in shaping the future of their city. This can be done by participating in online citizens' offices, citizens' consultation hours with the mayor or surveys often simply from home.

Chernivtsi

Quite often Chernivtsi is called “the arcane capital of Europe”. During the centuries world-famous writers and poets, singers and actors, architects and artists found a place for themselves here. They belonged to different nations - Germans, Austrians, Poles, Romanians, Jews, Armenians, Ukrainians etc., however, such intermix of cultures and traditions created a special atmosphere of tolerance in the city and influenced the language of its inhabitants, local cuisine and general outlook of its citizens. On the state keeping of this small city there are more than 700 sites of cultural heritage.

Creuzier-le-Vieux

Creuzier-le-Vieux is a French municipality located in the Allier département. Its population currently numbers around 3,400 inhabitants. Situated next to the city of Vichy, it was considered as Vichy’s “orchard” during the Vichy era. The northern part of Creuzier-le-Vieux is very rural, despite the ongoing process of urban development. In March 2017, the municipality decided to acquire the services of a territorial development expert in order to devise an enhancement strategy for the local heritage. This project was founded on a participatory decision.

Edremit

The municipality of Edremit, in Türkiye, is located on the Aegean Coast. With its 34 kms of coastline covered with beaches and crystalline waters overlooking the stunning Gulf of Edremit, this precious center is included in the metropolitan city district of Balikesir. This area is a popular tourist destination for its natural beauties (Mount Ida), archaeological sites (Antandros settlement, necropolis) and Mediterranean typical gastronomy enriched with the renowned Edremit’s olive oil, the main ingredient of the exquisite regional cuisine. The several luxury thermal spas close to Mount Ida make this resort an excellent destination for tourist.

Farkadona

Located in the Region of Thessaly in Central Greece, the urban environment of Farkadona includes small cities and villages while its natural environment includes Mountains, plains, small forests and several rivers. The Local authority has several Main Goals such as: collaborate and exchange experiences with European partners, activate the civic participation in European and local democratic processes, protect cultural and environmental heritage, encourage youth entrepreneurship, support the mobility of people, ideas and intercultural contact.

Huddinge

Huddinge is the second largest municipality in the county, located in the South of Stockholm City. With over 106,000 residents, Huddinge is in a unique position in terms of its proximity to the heart of the capital and its access to extensive, easily accessible nature areas.Besides a fantastic countryside, Huddinge also has a wealth of cultural and leisure activities to offer. We have modern sports facilities, popular cultural events, a vibrant recreational scene and plenty of meeting places for young and old. This combination appeals to many, and is one of the reasons why Huddinge is developing and expanding at a rapid pace.

Izmit Municipality

Izmit Municipality undertakes all local services effectively, efficiently and in harmony within its boundaries with its 980 municipality personnel. Izmit Municipality faciliates many decisions organs to chair their duties and services conferred with other civilian social instutions as a centre municipality. In addition, if we need to give some information about the municipality activities; Gölkaypark (Waterskii Center), EcoPark (Ecological Park), Child Rights School, Woman Social Life Center, History Hall, ?zmek (Vacational Courses with 62 different branches). Izmit Municipality is the first municipality in its region, hosting and sending volunteers under European Volunteer Service Program and develops projects related to Youth Program. Izmit Municipality representatives also participated many international EU projects all around Europe and invited over 50 organizations to Izmit in several projects. We are also local relay of Eurodesk Turkey. As International Relations and EU Unit, we are organizing several conferences and trainings for young people to let them know about European opportunities. In a year app. than 2.000 young people benefit from these activities.

Kadikoy Municipality

Kad?köy is a large, populous, and cosmopolitan district of Istanbul, Turkey on the northern shore of the Sea of Marmara, facing the historic city centre on the European side of the Bosporus. Kad?köy is also the name of the most prominent neighbourhood of the district, a residential and commercial area that, with its numerous bars, cinemas and bookshops, is the cultural centre of the Anatolian side of Istanbul.

Kahramankazan

Kahramankazan is a rapidliy growing district located 30 km from the capital Ankara covering an area of 56 thousand hectares and comprising of a treasure of history, nature and culture. Together with the employment , the district population of 100.000 is the leading district of Ankara and the 37th most developing district in Turkey. In 2004 there were small scale industrial organisations in Kazan in addition to agriculture and animal husbandry. A 50 year development plan was prepared for the district in 2004. Today the district has become globally noteworthy for its large scale private and public investments.

Karsiyaka

Kar??yaka is a district of ?zmir Province in Turkey. It is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area of ?zmir, the second largest after Konak in terms of population, and is almost entirely urbanised at a rate of 99.9 per cent, with corresponding high levels of development in terms of lifestyle and services. Kar??yaka extends for twelve kilometres along the northern and eastern coastline of the tip of the Gulf of ?zmir. Kar??yaka's overall level of education is recognised as being of the highest in Turkey Kar??yaka also boasts an advanced urban culture of its own, centred on the cherished Kar??yaka SK football team.

Katowice

Although the city of Katowice owes its development, to a large extent, to heavy industry, nowadays these traditional sectors of the regional economy are giving way to new areas of activities. Companies from different fields are settling down in postindustrial areas, and many new jobs are created. Add a modern infrastructure, and you get a city with a dynamic development and growing attractiveness for residents and investors.

Kharkiv

Kharkiv is a 1.5 million multinational city where over 100 ethnic groups have been living peacefully together since the early days of its creation,  jointly contributing to the development of their beloved Motherland.   Numerous local diverse communities have their registered cultural associations in Kharkiv, which organize festivals, cultural days, concerts, exhibitions in close co-operation with city authorities. Such events always attract huge attention of all the citizens of Kharkiv. Our city is also home to many multinational and intercultural NGOs which organize all-city events to promote intercultural tolerance.

Kirklees

We’re committed to growing a stronger local democracy in Kirklees, from the ground up. We’ve worked with citizens from local places across Kirklees to create a shared goal for active citizenship, called “Shaped by People: We make our places what they are”. This is a shared strategic priority for Kirklees Council and our partners. Our aim is to enable more people to directly shape their local place, as active citizens, and for everyone to be involved in the decisions which affect their everyday lives. We have involved over 10,000 citizens in activities to shape their local neighbourhoods, through our How Good Is Our Place? programme, which focuses on meaningful conversations and actions in our local places. We have also worked with young citizens to create a pioneering Democracy Friendly Schools programme, to help children and young people learn about - and be an active part of - local democracy. Our work is based on the learning and recommendations of the Kirklees Democracy Commission. We explored what a vibrant local democracy should look like - for the next generation and beyond - by listening to and learning from our citizens. Our report 'Growing a Stronger Local Democracy' is based on a year of evidence-based research and debate, involving over 1,000 people.

Lüleburgaz

The total population of Lüleburgaz is based on the exact population determination results of 2018 (147,325). This (115.000) is in the district center and (31.660) is in the towns and villages. This population (51%) is females (49%). The population growth rate is well above the country average and the increase is mainly due to intensive migration from other regions and from the villages.

Medgidia

Situated in the central area of Dobrogea Highland, in the county of Constanta, at a more or less equal distance between the Danube and the Black Sea, the city of Medgidia is fascinating not only because of its cultural diversity, but also on account of its historical background. It is known first on account of the canal which connects the Danube to the Black Sea. The Canal was built in the former valley of Carasu and inaugurated in 1984. As a result of the rich industrial and agricultural network consolidated in the past, Medgidia is situated in an area of tremendous historic resonance, a fact which has been confirmed by its numerous relics.

Mioveni

Mioveni is a modern, well-organised and prosperous town located in Arges County, Romania. An ancient monastery dated from 1573 in a green forested area and a new modern cathedral located in the middle of the urban area of the town are its main symbols. Local authorities have a clear vision on a common Europe, on democracy and individual liberty. For this reason, and as recognition for its intense activity for promoting European values, our city obtained the European Diploma in 2012, the Flag of Honor in 2013 and the Plaque of Honor in 2019.

Pancevo

The City of Pan?evo is located in South Vojvodina in the Republic of Serbia, at the confluence of the Tamiš and the Danube rivers, on the boundary of the Pannonian Basin. It is the economic, cultural and administrative centre of South Banat and one of the most important industrial centres in the Republic of Serbia. With its nine surrounding villages, the city area covers 756 km2. Pan?evo is just 18 km away from Belgrade and 38 km away from the Nikola Tesla International Airport. Its ethnically diverse population comprises 123,414 inhabitants, the majority of whom are ethnic Serbs.

Ramnicu Valcea

The municipality of Ramnicu Valcea (“Ramnic”), the capital town of Valcea County, Romania is located 176 km far from Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The municipality of Ramnicu Valcea spreads in the hilly area of the Meridional Carpathians, at an average altitude of 250 m, on the right bank of River Olt, at its confluence with River Olanesti. The population of the municipality amounts to 118.398 inhabitants. On July 29, 1848, the people of Ramnic, gathered on the site of the present Zavoi Park, played for the first time the song “Awaken thee, Romanian!”, the current national anthem of Romania.

Rize Municipality

From 1924 onwards, Rize has been a province of the Republic of Turkey. Rize province is a province of north-east Turkey,on the eastern Black Sea Region Rize which lies on the northern side of the Black Sea mountain ranges has uneven and mountainous terrain. It has got a very narrow coastal strip, alluvial plains, and landfills, which has a significant place in Rize’s topography.The Population of Rize is 331.048. The economic structure of Rize is agriculturally based on tea production and tea industry.Fishery and forestry products also contribute to its ecomomy. Rize is famous for anchovy, Tea and Rize fabric which is made of linseed (flax).

Södermöre, Kalmar municipality

Södermöre municipal district is a rural part of Kalmar municipality. Kalmar is a city in Småland in the south-east of Sweden, situated by the Baltic Sea. How Citizens can get involved in decisions: - We have a "Citizens panel" where they get information from the board of politicians. They also get questions that the politicians want their opinion in. - The meeting with the board of politicians is always open for the public.

Samos

Samos lies in the eastern part of the Aegean Sea near the coast of Asia Minor. It is located 175 nautical miles away from Piraeus and is the closest to Turkey Greek island, from which it is separated by the Mykali strait or Dar Bogaz in Turkish, with a minimum width of approximately 1.650m. At its northwest lies Chios, Ikaria at its west, Fournoi at its southwest and Dodecanese at its south, of which the nearest are Agathonisi, Arki and Patmos. The capital of Samos since the principality era is located 18 km from the airport and is amphitheatrically built in a beautiful bay.

Segovia

Segovia is a city full of ancient history, which origins dates back to Celtiberian tribes, who built it in a craggy rock made of limestone. The height of the cliff is over 1000 meters above sea level. The silhouette drawn on the Castilian clean sky has been compared, from the 16th century, to a ship made of stone, waiting for the two rivers that flow on its feet (Eresma and Clamores) to flood the valley, so it can sail to the vast sea of the plateau.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg is a city in eastern France on the left bank of the Rhine. It is the capital of the Alsace region and of the département of Bas-Rhin. The city has been the seat of the Council of Europe since 1949, the European Parliament since 1992 and the European Court of Human Rights in the Human Rights Building since 1998, earning it the titles of “European Capital” and “Capital of Europe”. In terms of the number of people living within the city itself, Strasbourg is the largest municipality in the Grand Est region of France and the seventh largest in France. It is one of the main economic centres in the north east of the country.

The aim of the Suleymapasa Municipality is the protection of historical and natural sites while improving tourism, agriculture and farming, industry and technology. Valongo

Located along the northern coast of Portugal and included in the metropolitan area of ??Porto (metropolitan area of ??Porto), the municipality of Valongo offers diverse landscapes, ancient culture, delicious food and a rich history. Its area of ??75, 12 km2 allows it to coexist with the cities of Alfena, Ermesinde and Valongo and the villages of Campo and Sobrado coexist. Valongo welcomes throughout the year festivals and fairs, aims at reviving local identity marks.

Vasylkiv

The city serves as the administrative center of the Vasylkivskyi Raion’s district. It enjoys picturesque surroundings and a stunning riverside location that only adds to its appeal. Vasylkiv is one of those cities that is so old that the exact founding date of the original settlement is unknown. It seems to pre-date most written records, but it must have been in existence by the early 10th century. The surrounding area has well over 1000 years of history and since Vasylkiv is a part of this, the town likely has just as long a history as the region.

Yunusemre

Yunusemre is one of the two central districts of the province of Manisa, which is an industrial, cultural and commercial city. Yunusemre is only 20 minutes away from Izmir, which gives Yunusemre several advantages due to the proximity to the country’s 3rd most developed city. We have one of the largest and most developed Organized Industry Zones in the country. Prominent brands and companies such as Vestel Group, Indesit, Bosch, Schneider, ECA, Eczacibasi and Ulker have chosen this city as their production sites. It is the second largest commercial and industrial city in the Agean Region.

Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities of Serbia

Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) is the place for gathering, discussing common issues and problems, and formulating and representing joint interests of local self-government units. SCTM constantly works on processing of defining strategic directions and adopting regulations important for local self -governments, co-operation and twinning of local authorities in both national and international contexts,keeping members, partners and the public informed about all issues of importance for local self-government.

Union of Central Anatolian Municipalities Statutes

Central Anatolia Municipalities Union is a public organisation. Republic of Turkey Central Anatolia Municipalities Union is established upon the document of Ministery of Interior Affairs with the date 15.01.1991 and number 15053 and the permission date 25.01.1991 and number 91/1427 of the Council of Ministers. Central Anatolia Municipalities Union service centers’ property is on the Union.
