Aylesbury

Aylesbury is the county town of Buckinghamshire, situated approximately 60 km north west of London and presently has an estimated population of about 60,000. Aylesbury Town Council is the first tier of local government and is closest to the community, representing the electorate through 25 elected councillors in a total of 13 electoral wards. The Council provides local services including allotments, the town cemetery, holds the mayoral office, produces a programme of annual public events to promote the town and awards grants to local community groups. In addition, the Council undertakes devolved services from the County Council, provides hanging baskets, planters and floral beds each year in the Aylesbury in Bloom promotion and also directly manages a childrens' play-centre. Aylesbury is twinned with Bourg-en-Bresse (France). The Council also recognises the importance of engaging with young people and has established the Aylesbury Town Youth Council, now in its third year.
