Association for Promoting Local Participation
« Association for Promoting Local Participation » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner association »
The mission of our association is to have a “City Council” established, which already should have been founded on the basis of the instructions of the law on Municipalities in Turkish legislation (Nr.5393, Article 76) enacted in July 2005.
The City Council, as the main participatory platform of the Local Agenda 21 process, deals, among many other things, with :
- Promoting a sense of citizenship,
- Bringing the representatives of civil society organisations, professional chambers, trade unions, universities etc. together,
- Establishing the principles of transparency, accountability, participation and subsidiarity.
That is why we decided to take part in ELDW.
