The Institute’s mission is to advance excellence in governance and development by:
1. ensuring that the professionalism and ideals of accountable governance are understood and valued;
2. learning through the exchange and expansion of knowledge in local development using publications, conferences, and technologies for information sharing;
3. celebrating those individuals and organizations who have achieved the highest standards of professional practice and service; and
4. networking and providing opportunities for sharing best practices and knowledge about participatory governance locally, nationally and regionally.
