Neuchatel

Neuchâtel is a Swiss town on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, on the southern flank of the Jura, it faces the Alps.

The economy of the city has long been associated with the administration (the most important city of the region) and agriculture (vines). It was dominated by international trade in the eighteenth century, followed by the secondary (watch) and tertiary. Later, tourism has accompanied the development of the railway.

The area is heavily industrial with the chocolate industry, ironworks and sawmills and the clocks that developed during the nineteenth century and collapsed at the end of the last century. It is renewed today through technology. The city is also known for its university, its high technology activities, and on the tourist map, with its medieval village.
