« Mirano - Province of Venice » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
Takes part in the ELDW with the aim of:
Better involve citizens in public life and interacte with local authorities
Test the citizens’ acquaintance with the participatory tools and trust in local/regional institutions
Improve social cohesion and respect of the others in the community
Mirano is a small city located in the northwest of the Province of Venice, around 20 km from the lagoon centre, in a crucial position between Venice, Padua and Treviso. The economy of the city is associated with many commercial activities, handcraft companies and factory farms.

Mirano is a small city located in the northwest of the Province of Venice, around 20 km from the lagoon centre, in a crucial position between Venice, Padua and Treviso. The economy of the city is associated with many commercial activities, handcraft companies and factory farms.
The statute of the Municipality of Mirano provides citizens with some participation tools and bodies (among which a number of Councils on various issues of interest for the community – youth, commercial activities, environment, etc.) and the Office of the Civic and Cultural Mediator. It also allows for the promotion of informal practices of citizen participation in the decision-making process. Moreover, at the present moment, a member of the City Council is delegated by the Mayor to take charge of participation policies.
