TAKE A STEP INTO ORGANIC LIFE PROJECT

It is an Erasmus+ project and the project activities are planned as a youth mobility project that includes activities related to environmental protection and adopting a healthier life. The project dates have been determined as 19-27 October, and the project activities will be carried out within the borders of the Beykoz district. Participating countries will be France, Latvia, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria, and Turkey. This project aims to reach people from many different countries with different backgrounds, to increase awareness about nature protection, and to increase people's skills to adopt a nature-friendly lifestyle. Objectives of the project: • To popularize the concepts of organic agriculture and nutrition, • To increase the sensitivity to nature in youth and adults, • To equip young people with new skills to lead a more environmentally friendly life, • To increase the international cooperation of institutions working on the protection of the ecosystem, • To strengthen the bond between public institutions and non-governmental organizations, • To popularize environmentally friendly practices such as urban gardening and composting so that people living in the city can do so, • To reduce unplanned consumption, to support the productive society structure, • To contribute to the promotion of Beykoz, • To bring international dimension and visibility to the environmentally friendly practices of Beykoz municipality, • To add vision to the youth in Beykoz, • To increase the local awareness of the Erasmus+ program and the number of beneficiaries, • Contributing to the delivery of the Erasmus+ program to more people in different countries, • To contribute to the European Local Democracy Week, • To draw attention to and contribute to the green agreement of the European Union, • To support the European Union's 2030 environmental goals. Activites of the project: 1. Ecological Garden Plants The participants, who will touch the soil in the facilities of Beykoz Municipality, do organic agriculture, recycling and urban gardening, by participating in the workshops in the environmentally friendly facilities in the district and getting information about the process. Youths who plant seeds in the ecological gardens of the Permatürk Foundation, which carries out sustainable agriculture together with environmental volunteers; plant medicinal and aromatic plants in Yücel Çelikbilek Orchard, which is full of fruit trees unique to the district. 2. Examine Sustainable Natural Applications Participants, visit Beykoz Village Market and learn how local producers can sale their products in the market. They carry out another field works in the Soilless Agriculture (R&D) Greenhouse and they have chance to examine how vegetables and fruits can grow without soil. With visiting the Beykoz Recycling Facilities, they learn the composing system and realize the recycling practices of the municipality. 3. Electronic Waste Workshop We want to show how electronic waste can use in our daily life. For this purpose, jewelry, key chains, etc. from waste are done as a jewelry. At the same time, we created a sustainable work by having painting works done. 4. Organic Flavors & Traditional Dishes The project finalizes with a big event with the collaboration of the Beykoz University Gastronomy Department. In that event, participants prepare their country’s traditional dishes with organic vegetables and fruits grown in Beykoz.
