STEAM Workshop

As Edirne Municipality, we organized a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) workshop on March 9, 2025, offering children an engaging learning environment that fostered creative participation while introducing them to scientific thinking. In this workshop, children didn’t just conduct experiments—they generated ideas, engaged in discussions, made group decisions, and developed solutions collaboratively. Rather than being passive recipients of information, they were encouraged to take an active role in their own learning process. This participatory approach allowed children to experience at an early age the core principles of local democracy, such as having a voice, working together, and embracing collective decision-making. By making small but meaningful decisions that affect daily life, the children experienced firsthand how they can one day help shape the future of their city. Through such initiatives, Edirne Municipality aims to foster a sense of citizenship from an early age and to lay the groundwork for a society where everyone—regardless of age—can contribute to local governance processes.
