Municipality of Ixelles
« Municipality of Ixelles » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
Ixelles is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region in Belgium. It is a major cultural and university centre, thanks in particular to the presence of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. It has held 3 editions of its participatory budget and has 6 citizens' advisory councils (on animal welfare, European affairs, disability issues, children, young people and sustainable nutrition). It has launched a new urban regeneration contract (the Petite Suisse Sustainable Neighbourhood Contract) that includes improvements to public spaces, housing renovation and social initiatives. Citizen participation is at the heart of the project, with residents involved at every stage.
