Digital dialouge with young citizens (13-19 years old)

Södermöre
14/10/2020
During the ELDW we had two digital dialogue meetings, one with citizens and another with younger citizens (13-19 years old). Our local board of politicians in Södermöre have point out young people as a special target group to focus on and work with. We wanted to have a dialouge to hear what is important for the young people in district, and what question they might have for their local politicians. Due to the pandemic we used the digital meeting tool ”Teams” to create a live sending dialogue online. Our youth center ”Hobban” (a unit in the municipality) showed the dialogue and offered snacks during the 45 minutes long dialogue. The questions from the young persons were: - They want better school meals. - They want later bus traffic in the evening. - It would be a feeling of security to see the police more often in our area. - Night walkers (parents and grown ups walk together in villages to spread security. Research have shown that it’s prevent crimes and increase the feeling of safety). Our evaluation of the dialogue was that we reached some new young persons, our ambitions were of course many more. We think the best way to reach our young people is to visit them in their daily life, in a certain activities. Our feedback is now published on our webpage.
