Theatre “My Global Room” (Teatro “O Meu Quarto Global)

For this particular activity, the Municipality of Valongo asked a local company theatre to co-design a play that centred its topics on Democracy and its related themes. This play, which had three sessions during the ELDW celebrations, had also an innovative component. Giving the fact that schools were asked to bring students to the play, it was thought necessary to break with the usual theatre play type, and embrace something more dynamic and interactive. Moreover, the public was asked to have their mobile phones on hand, and throughout the play, would be invited to answer questions through the application “Mentimenter”. At the end of the play, the crowd engaged with in an informal conversation about the topics discussed in the play, namely the different forms of government and the dangers that democracy faces nowadays. The results were very good, and the play was enjoyed by citizens of all ages and social circles.
