Málaga is a city in the south of Spain, capital of the Province of Málaga, in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, by the Mediterranean Sea.  With a population of 568,507 in 2010, it is the sixth largest city in Spain. Sitting at the mouth of the Guadalmedina, this large white conurbation is dominated by the Gibralfaro, the " Lighthouse Hill", crowned by the 14th century walls.  Málaga's position, facing the Moroccan coast and land routes from the highlands of Granada and the Guadalquivir River, make it the main city on the Mediterranean coast of Andalusia.
