Edremit Municipality awarded the Flag of Honour by the Parlamentar Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2019. The Ceremony has been held on 15 October in order to honour the symbolic day of the European Local Democracy Week with a moment of Europe-wide significance. The Flag of Honour was handed over by Mr. Valeriu Ghiletchi, former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. During the ceremony the Mayor illustrated the functions of the Council of Europe and the history of the Parliamentary Assembly.
