The Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Cahal Burke, welcomed primary school children to a special event at Dewsbury Town Hall. He talked about his role as the Civic Mayor of Kirklees and also what it’s like to be a Kirklees Councillor. Children learned about the Kirklees area and what their council does. They also heard the history behind the Mayoral robes and ceremonial mace. The session was designed for children in Years 3 – 6 (Key Stage 2).
