We want our staff to grow their confidence and understanding about working with Councillors. Councillors have a unique role in connecting us to our citizens. They also have valuable local knowledge and insight to share. Yet many council staff, especially those who are new to working in local government, are not sure what our elected Councillors do or what it means to work in a democratic organisation. For Local Democracy Week 2024 we launched a new online training resource for Kirklees Council staff. This activity is helping our staff to understand what councillors do and to actively engage with our councillors. Our new online learning resources are helping people to learn the basics and to feel confident working with our Councillors.
