Vlaardingen
« Vlaardingen » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »
The municipality of Vlaardingen has around 72.000 inhabitants and is located in the South West part of the Netherlands. The place was already inhabited 5000 BC. In more recent history Vld. was famous for its fishing of herring, later for industrial activities in the Rotterdam port area. It is situated at the edge of the Rotterdam urban area, close to green natural and recreational areas.
