Dialogue Seminars - Active Residents: the Key to Community Development

Throughout May and June 2023, in partnership with the Council of Europe Project "Strengthening the resilience of democratic processes through civic participation in times of war," a series of meetings with Council of Europe experts took place in the Lviv community under the title "Active Residents - the Key to Community Development": 10 off-site meetings, 19 settlements within the Lviv community, 31 initiative groups, 31 developed ideas, and over 200 registered participants.
The broad coverage and active communication with residents of the Lviv territorial community during these Dialogue Seminars provided an understanding that they are open to collaboration, eager to comprehend and actively utilize tools of civic participation. The most popular requests among residents include the Public Budget, competitions for civic organizations, electronic petitions, local initiatives, and citizens' appeals. There is also a significant demand for creating opportunities for co-financing infrastructure and social projects.
Based on the outcomes of the events and the analysis of participants' requests, experts have developed recommendations for the further development of participatory practices and ways to ensure the democratic resilience of the community.
