Participatory Event - Democratic Chessboard

On October 18, 2023, the participatory event "Democratic Chessboard" took place in the Large Session Hall of the Lviv City Council, organized by the Department of Urban Agglomeration of the Lviv City Council in collaboration with the Department of Political Science at Ivan Franko National University. This key event of the European Week of Local Democracy 2023 involved approximately 50 participants. "Democratic Chessboard" simulated a participatory process in which participants, political science students, created their own political parties, brands, logos, programs, promotional videos, and competed for the votes of the electorate. Three teams were formed, each representing their parties. Each stage was evaluated by experts, including Natalia Shelestak, Chair of the Deputies' Commission on Finance and Budget Planning, Liubomyr Melnychuk, Deputy Chair of the Deputies Commission on Land Use and Agglomeration, Yuliya Hvozdovych, expert from the Council of Europe, lecturers from Ivan Franko National University, and specialists from the Lviv City Council. For political science students, understanding political processes in practice is of utmost importance. This component of education helps students better comprehend and analyze political processes, as well as learn to make informed decisions in complex situations."
