Introductory Meetings for Students - Local communities: putting democratic resilience at the forefront in Wartime

Students from the locality of Zashkiv within the territorial community of Lviv attended an educational introductory meeting at the Lviv City Council on "Local communities: putting democratic resilience at the forefront in Wartime". Throughout October 2023, 10 meetings were held in the Large Session Hall of the Lviv City Council with senior high school students from schools affiliated with the populated areas of the Lviv community, as well as with students from Lviv universities. In total, over 300 attendees participated in these educational and introductory events. During these meetings, discussions covered the functioning of the executive bodies of the Lviv City Council and the parliamentary body, forms of civic participation, and youth entrepreneurial initiatives. The mechanisms of public influence on decision-making by the Lviv City Council were analyzed, particularly through the public budget, electronic petitions, competitions for civic organizations, and other forms of civic participation. Today's high school students will become tomorrow's university students and voters, so it is important to instill in them an understanding of the importance of democratic resilience and civic engagement as citizens.
