"Environmental protection: Local communities are taking action"

As part of the celebration of the "European Week of Local Democracy" (ENLD), which was held under the motto "Environmental protection: local communities are taking action", a thematic gathering entitled "How to save our city from pollution" was held in Kragujevac. On behalf of the host, the City of Kragujevac, the participants were greeted by Stefan Nikezi?, a member of the City Council for Improvement and Environmental Protection, and the meeting was attended by Dušan Aleksi?, a member of the City Council for Education, representatives of the Kragujevac Youth Office, Department of environment?? Protection of the City Administration and environmental organizations. The intention of the organizers was to initiate joint actions through the interaction between education, the city and the civil sector and to draw the public's attention to how important it is to work continuously and from an early age on improving environmental protection. At the beginning of October, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Science, Education and Technological Development signed an agreement on cooperation within which it is planned that in the next, 2022 year, educational workshops will be held in 29 schools in Serbia and spoke about the importance of preserving the environment. The gathering discussed what we, as a city, can do with the support of educational institutions and the civil sector. On this occasion, the action of the Club of Volunteers of Kragujevac was announced on the afforestation of the Memorial Park of Šumarica, which was held on October 16, and all those interested were invited to join them.
