Municipality of Argelaguer

« Municipality of Argelaguer » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »

The municipality of Argelaguer has an extension of 12.5 km2. It is located to the left of the Fluvià river and is part of the Garrotxa region, in the Gironine Regions. The village, with 423 inhabitants, is located at an altitude of 183 m. It is surrounded by forests and its main agriculture consists of cereals and olive trees, although most of the inhabitants work in industry and services. The municipality also has a hydroelectric industry and a growing population of independent professionals. The limits of the municipal term are to the north with Tortellà and Sales de Llierca, to the east and south with Sant Ferriol and to the west with Sant Jaume de Llierca.
