Telling to the Mayor

Two meetings were organized on November 4 and 23.
A group of 15 students (13 to 15 years), selected a number of issues of their concerns in a preparatory meeting the 4th of November, helped by an adult as facilitator. The Mayor attended the second meeting, where the participation of young people was even larger than in the first meeting. They talked to the Mayor about their wishes: a multifunctional sports field, a skate board track, a wall to make murals, ect. The mayor was very receptive and many of the young people's proposals were accepted. He proposed:
1. that the kids transform the request for the multifunctional sports field in a real project to be financed next spring;
2. Vicovaro will acquire installations for removable murals; Riccardo, a young writer, was asked to paint a "Bench for Peace" for the celebrations on 8 December.
3. Vicovaro will establish a Youth Council to make exchanges between local authoriities and the youth more effective and structured.
This initiative "Telling to the mayor" has been a great success!
