« Câmara Municipal da Amadora » takes part in the European Local Democracy Week - a paneuropean event coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe - as « Partner city »

The city of Amadora is one of the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, bordering Lisbon, Odivelas, Sintra and Oeiras. Made up of six parishes (Águas Livres, Alfragide, Encosta do Sol, Falagueira-Venda Nova, Mina de Água and Venteira), 171,719 inhabitants live in the Municipality of Amadora, in an area of around 24Km2 (2021 Census). Amadora Town Council has developed a number of strategies to promote the well-being of all its citizens, boosting civic participation in the municipal planning process and promoting citizen satisfaction and a sense of commitment to the decisions taken, with a view to creating a healthy and safe environment for all.
