Vernissage de l’exposition de photographies « Atatürk, pionnier de la démocratie »

Lors de la cérémonie, le maire d’Edremit a expliqué le thème et la portée de l’exposition en soulignant le rôle important joué par Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, le fondateur de la République turque, dans l’établissement et la diffusion de la démocratie dans notre pays. Il a ajouté que l’exposition pourrait être l’occasion pour tous nos concitoyens de réfléchir à l’importance de la démocratie et des efforts déployés pour l’obtenir. L’exposition sur Atatürk, qui comprend 40 clichés, dont des photographies des premières élections démocratiques, de l’émergence des droits des femmes en Turquie et des visites d’Atatürk à Edremit, a été très appréciée par les visiteurs.
In the framework of the main theme of the European Local Democracy Week 2017, Edremit Municipality organized a photography exhibition dedicated to “Ataturk: a Democracy Pioneer”, set up at the Ayse S?d?ka Erke Ethnography Museum in Edremit.
During the opening ceremony the Mayor of Edremit explained the subject and the meaning of the exhibition underlining the significant role of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic, in establishing and spreading democracy in our country. He added that this exhibition could be an occasion for all our citizens to meditate on the meaning of democracy and the efforts carried out in order to obtain it.
Ataturk's exhibition, which includes a total of 40 photographs, including photographs depicting the first democratic elections, the rising of women’s right in Turkey and visits to Edremit was very much appreciated by the visitors. Mrs.Eleftheria Alifieraki and Mr.Taksiarhis Veros, the Deputy Mayor of Hanya and Lesvos, who joined the event, appreciated the other ethnographic installations of the museum about Ataturk and his army (Kuva-yiMilliye). By stating that they have a common culture, they express that many values of the past share a profound and important similarity. The exhibition is open to public until October 29th, the Republic Day.
