The evaluation declaration of the +0.5 Future of the Mediterranean Workshop, organized by the Muratpasa Municipality in Antalya under the title of 'Living in a Climate Crisis' this year, has been published. In the declaration consisting of 12 articles, “One third of every food produced is wasted without feeding the end consumer. Local governments must be included in the food production-consumption chain. The +0.5 Future of the Mediterranean Workshop, organized by Muratpasa Municipality to draw attention to the climate crisis, has ended. The second of the workshop, which focused on water policies in its first year, was held at Turkan Soray Cultural Center with the theme of Living in a Climate Crisis. In the workshop on the effects of climate change on public health, food security and socio-economic situation, 6 papers were presented in 2 sessions. The workshop ended with a special Agenda program titled ‘Living in crisis’ with the participation of Republican People's Party Assembly Member Gökhan Günaydin, Muratpasa Mayor Ümit Uysal, academician and writer Elfin Tataroglu, Birgün newspaper Editor-in-Chief Ibrahim Varli and communication scientist and writer Ali Haydar Firat. The evaluation statement published after the workshop consisted of 12 items. In the declaration, which drew attention to the necessity of applying mitigation measures against the controllable effects of the climate crisis and adapting to its inevitable effects, it was emphasized that the measures to be taken in the field of urban planning against the climate crisis were of critical importance. The declaration proposing the establishment of a climate platform on a local scale suggested that the platform be established in a way that would accommodate all the dynamics in the region. Evaluating many topics such as aging, childhood and adolescence, nutrition, agriculture, deforestation, water resources and migration, the declaration emphasized the necessity of including local governments in the food production-consumption chain. The requirement was stated in the declaration as follows: “One third of every food produced is wasted without feeding the end consumer. There is a need for serious studies in the fields of food supply and safety to prevent this situation. Local governments must be included in the food production-consumption chain”.
