Muratpasa Municipality signed the Climate and Energy Agreement (Covenant of Mayors)

Muratpasa Mayor Ümit Uysal, who signed the European Mayors Agreement on Climate and Energy, stated that human beings are now living within the environmental crisis. Muratpasa Municipality signed the European Mayors Agreement on Climate and Energy, with the decision of the Muratpasa Municipality Council dated 6 May 2022, within the scope of the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan preparations. Muratpasa Mayor Ümit Uysal, who signed the contract, stated that human beings are now living within the environmental crisis. Mayor Uysal said that environmental studies have ceased to be a field of social activity and have become a means of legitimate defense. The platform, which comes together for a fairer and climate-neutral Europe, was established to realize the climate and energy targets of the mayors of the European Union, candidate countries and neighboring countries. Municipalities that are party to this convention, supported by the European Union, commit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in their jurisdictions and take measures against climate change by 2030, encouraging energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources.
