The Environment Festival was held on Saturday, September 4 by the Municipality in order to raise awareness about the “Zero Waste” movement and draw attention to the importance of cleaning and protecting our drinking water basin. Within the scope of this event, firstly the Büyükçekmece lake shore and the basin area was cleaned by the hundreds of volunteers. After the cleaning, workshops and training were organized in the festival area about recycling and upcycling. Tons of plastic waste collected in the cleaning work revealed that drinking water is in danger. A comprehensive conservation movement has been launched in the Büyükçekmece lake basin.
