ROUTE OPTIMIZATION PROJECT

The Municipality of Büyükçekmece, The Directorate of Information Technologies has implemented the ‘Route Optimization Project’ to decrease carbon emissions in the region and mitigate the impacts of climate change. We have routed our garbage trucks to reduce the environmental damage without affecting their services by using fewer vehicles and shortening the distance. A route application was developed to inform the citizens. As a result of the project, an average of 20-30% reduction in fossil fuel and gas emissions has been achieved. This has contributed to the reduction of air pollution and environmental damage in our region.
